Basic D&D – The 1983 Frank Mentzer version

It all started at a Waldenbooks in Nebraska in 1983…

My grandmother bought me the famous “Red Box” edition of Basic Dungeons & Dragons during one of our annual summer vacations to visit them in Lincoln, Nebraska. If you are too young to know what a Waldenbooks was, just go ahead and imagine it a bit like the food court scene from Stranger Things, less the inter-dimensional horror, with books.

These days, Engineering Management in the material handling industry takes up the working hours but there is always spare time found to indulge in old hobbies to some degree, even if it’s just reading and pontificating about them.
